Datwyler news from Ecuador

We just wanted to get you a quick update with the most recent things which will not be in the May issue of ‘Door of Hope’. We praise God for our senders—all of you for your faithfulness through these trying times. It is now that we remember that God really is in control and we know how it all ends. (JESUS wins) The question is…how many will we bring with us when we meet Jesus face to face? We covet your prayers and continued support as we meet with diverse challenges here in Ecuador. It is an honor to be your voice and hands here on the equatorial front line.
Greetings to you all,

We just wanted to get you a quick update with the most recent things which will not be in the May issue of ‘Door of Hope’. We praise God for our senders—all of you for your faithfulness through these trying times. It is now that we remember that God really is in control and we know how it all ends. (JESUS wins) The question is…how many will we bring with us when we meet Jesus face to face? We covet your prayers and continued support as we meet with diverse challenges here in Ecuador. It is an honor to be your voice and hands here on the equatorial front line.

We have been getting ready to go on a long overdue vacation/mini-furlough. It has been no small feat to arrange for all the ministries to be covered while we are gone. You can probably understand the challenge when you remember the varied ministries in varied places we work—thanks to you. God has put a team together to keep the effort going while we are gone. It is always good to leave for a time to see God use so many of the servants He has given us to team up with. This proves that GOD is in charge and we are just HIS humble instruments.

We will first be going to Monterrey, MX to visit Amanda, Eli and our old friends and fellow workers on May 4. We wanted to be sure to visit John Wesley Seminary before our friend Antonio’s time is up as director. We have not gone for a visit since we left the day after hurricane Katrina hit. Please pray that we can encourage and be encouraged as we remember what God has done. We have many people we want to catch up with in this short visit.

After 10 days there, we will fly to Houston to head to Ruston, LA to share with a long time supporting church. We considered revisiting the places we worked with clean up after Katrina but decided we haven’t seen Kellyann, Rodrigo and our grandkids for quite some time so we will spend a day with them in Atlanta. Just 2 weeks ago, Kevin moved to Marietta, GA from Spokane so we will visit him to see that he is settling in. He is already an intern with Marietta First UMC and works at a nearby bakery. His plan is to attend culinary school at Chattahoochee Tech in the fall. It is just amazing to see God working in our kids lives and see God give them an abundant life in Him. This will be the first visit that we will see all 3 of our kids!! wooohooo!!!

We will try to do some mid week visits with a couple supporters but time will be tight. We will leave Atlanta area and head up and around to go back down to Tulsa, OK for 3 days with a wonderful church family who has visited us many times in MX and Ecuador. Our home stretch will be in Fredericksburg, TX with another long time supporting church and then head home May 31.

We would LOVE to visit more of you and we are aware that our scheduled furlough is coming up soon so if you have an event coming up, please let us know so we can plan a visit. We will not be taking the standard year long leave because several ministries are at a sensitive point and it would be destructive for us both to be gone for such a long time. We ask for your understanding as we continue the work God has put in front of us as well as spending time with our wonderful senders so you know what you are investing in. We look forward to hearing from you. Be looking for our full update in May. Please let others in your congregations know what is going on with us. You may even want to print this update or forward it to some people—we do not have everyone’s e mails.

If you would like us to call you while we are in the US please send us an email to that affect and your phone number and we will do what we can to contact you.

Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow—may you enjoy the sweet fellowship of each other and God Himself!!!
